Come drive a piece of history! The Bookmobile is needed at various locations throughout the county on any day of the week. Visits may be short – the driver would be asked to stay the duration – or long – the Bookmobile may be left at a location for the day, drivers may leave and return at a later time. Drivers are required to have a valid driver’s license and the ability and comfort level to drive a large bus type vehicle. A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is not required. The Bookmobile has an automatic transmission.
Drivers are also responsible for using a provided checklist to ensure the Bookmobile is roadworthy prior to each departure. Each volunteer will receive information and training for the Bookmobile and an “on the road” drivers training. Vehicle and personal liability insurance is provided by the Bookmobile.
This opportunity is Seasonal: April-October, 1-2 times per week. Most events scheduled for weekends.
